Jammu:: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer on Monday chaired a meeting of Heads of Departments to review the arrangements for the Independence Day- 2021 celebration.
The meeting was informed that due to ongoing development works at Parade Ground Jammu, the main function would be held at M A Stadium, where the chief guest shall hoist the National Flag.
Sensitizing the officers about their role and responsibility, the Div Com instructed to ensure that all arrangements are made in advance for smooth conduct of the celebrations in all districts.
He stressed on making fool-proof arrangements and said that no laxity or loopholes will be tolerated. “This is our moral duty to celebrate the National event with traditional fervour and all officers should work with zeal and dedication for smooth and successful conduct of Independence Day celebrations”, the Div Com said.
Threadbare discussion was held on various important issues like security arrangements, traffic, security passes, seating arrangements, decoration, illumination of offices, power and water supply, sanitation, medicare facilities, cultural activities. The concerned officers were given instructions to ensure all related arrangements are made properly and in advance for smooth conduct of National event.
Director School Education and Joint Director Information were told to conduct activities, online competitions like painting, essay competition and debates for students.
The concerned officers were further instructed to widely spread the theme of Aatmanirbar Bharat and other schemes among the masses through various activities on social media platforms to mark Independence Day celebrations. The Div Com also stressed on holding plantation drives.
The Div Com emphasized on making proper seating arrangements according to Covid protocols for all invitees and keeping in view the ongoing rainy season.
Instructions were given to the concerned department to ensure live telecast of main functions through LED screens at different locations.
The Health department was instructed to deploy a team of doctors and paramedics for thermal checking and periodically RAT testing of participants right from the beginning of rehearsal for the cultural programmes to be presented at the functions.
Meanwhile, contingents including J&K Police, Armed, CRPF, Lady Contingents, Home Guard, Fire & Emergency Services and Forest Protection Force shall participate in the march past and make band arrangements as per the past practices.
The DC Jammu was told to visit the venue to assess the readiness of t and ensure timely completion of repair and renovation works for smooth conduct of the event.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg; Commissioner JMC, SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic, SSP Security, Commandant CRPF, BSF, Chief Engineers of JPDCL, PWD, Directors of School Education, Floriculture, Health , Joint Director Information, Joint Director Hospitality & Protocol besides senior functionaries of Sport Council, Youth Services & Sports, culture academy, JKRTC, Fire Services, NCC and other concerned departments.
