Srinagar: The Director General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 80 lakh as Special Welfare Relief and over rupees 55 lakh ex.gratia relief in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyred, deceased Police personnel/SPOs.
According to a police statement issued on Monday DGP has sanctioned Rupees 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of NoKs of Constable Suhail Mushtaq Lohar who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Bhagat Chowk Srinagar. “While Rs 17.50 lakh ex-gratia relief has also been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of SPO Shabaz Ahmad who was killedduring an encounter with terrorists at Zantrag Khrew, the special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased personnel ASI Qiyam-ud-Din Khatana, HCs Lal Hussain, Muzaffar Ahmad SgCt. Sudesh Kumari and follower Sanjeev Kumar who expired during service due to health-related issues”.
Stating that Rs 5 lakh has also have been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Man Singh who expired due to illness during the course of his engagement with the department and out of this amount (special welfare relief) rupees one lakh each was already paid to the families/NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts, police in it’s statement further said that the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said “Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families”, adding that “there are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs and there are also schemes for the NoKs of those killed in the line of duty, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses”.
