Srinagar: :Police on Monday said that it has arrested five gamblers from a gambling site and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday police said that acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Sumbal under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal raided a gambling site at Trigam Shadipora on input about gambling activities and apprehended five gamblers. Stating that the accused have been identified as Aarif Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Ahad, Azhar Mahmood Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad & Fayaz Ahmad Wagay son of Gh Mohd all residents of Trigam and Reyaz Ahmad Dagga son of Gh Qadir, Mukhtar Ahmad Mir son of Gh Mohd both residents of Shadipora, police in the above quoted statement further said “Officers have seized stake money of ₹7,230/- and playing cards from the gamblers who have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”.
In the concluded para of its above referred statement police also said that a case vide FIR No. 93/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sumbal and investigation been initiated.
