Orientation prog on implementation of Panchayati Raj Act held at Kishtwar

Kishtwar: District Development Council Chairperson, Kishtwar, Pooja Thakur, in presence of DDC Vice chairperson, Saima Shabir Lone, Saturday chaired a meeting of the members of the Council and concerned officers to review the action taken on the directions regarding the redress of issues projected in previous meetings.
Besides an orientation training programme on the implementation of Panchayati Raj Act at grassroots level was also held. The Additional District Development Commissioner (CEO DDC) Sham Lal, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, besides BDOs imparted training to the participants regarding the various aspects and provisions of the Panchayati Raj Act and discussed in detail the structuring and functioning of the Panchayati Raj Institution in the District.
During the orientation programme, training material kits were distributed among the participating DDC members.
Assistant Commissioner Panchayat and other speakers briefed the house about the implementation of the Act besides describing the guidelines, roles and responsibilities in the conduct of the quarterly meetings of newly formed District Development Council.
An interactive session was also held with the DDC members regarding the efficient working of the three tier system of the PRIs.
Earlier, the DDC chairperson took stock of action taken on the previous directions and reviewed the progress of the ongoing developmental projects in the district.
The chair was given the sector wise briefing of different works and welfare schemes and the progress achieveds.
The DDC chairperson stressed on the executing agencies to meet the time-line set for these projects for the welfare of the general masses. She asked the line departments to work in tandem with the PRI members to ensure effective and efficient planning and implementation of developmental programmes in the district. She asked to remove the bottlenecks in the execution of iconic projects for meeting the people’s aspiration.
