Srinagar: The mainstream politicians on Tuesday extended Eid greetings to the peoples across Jammu and Kashmir.
National Conference (NC) President, Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In his message Dr. Farooq said, “As the Muslim Umah unite to observe Eid Al Azha, Let me at the very start felicitate people on the blessed and auspicious occasion of Eid-Al-Azha. The auspicious day commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS) in the way of the Almighty. The all merciful Almighty however spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) by staying in Hazrat Ibrahim’s Hand and placing a ram in his place. Hence the day is reminiscent of the greatest sacrifice in the history of mankind. On this day, it is imperative for all of us to prioritize the poor and deserving by doing everything possible to bring smiles on their faces. The core philosophy of the day evokes deep concern for the needy and offers us a window of opportunity to alleviate the plight of the poor and destitute and imbue ourselves with the spirit of compassion, generosity, empathy and care. May the day provide relief to the beleaguered people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and rid them of all the tribulations and problems they are facing,” he said.
While extending warm felicitations to the people, Omar Abdullah said, “At the very beginning, I wish Eid Mubarak to all. The auspicious day of the Eid Al Azha stresses on the need for equality of mankind, god consciousness, generosity, almsgiving and peaceful coexistence of the entire human kind. The divinely inspired sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) and the obedience of his son Hazrat Ismail (PUBH) have immortalized the day till eternity. I hope and pray that the day strengthens the cord of brotherhood between the different communities in J&K and Ladakh. I also hope that the day acts as a harbinger of healthier times, and much needed peace and stability to the entire region,” he said.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In her message, the PDP President prayed that the blessed festival further inculcates the values of selfless service, piety and care about each other among us. She said that the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) which embodies these values needs to be followed more in present times which are marked by acrimony, ill will and confrontation all across the globe.
Mehbooba Mufti said the occasions like Eid should invite us to think about happiness and welfare of those who cannot afford the necessities of life or who became victims of fate due to one reason or the other. “On this day, let’s give handholding to orphans, widows, destitute and any other who needs it. There lies the real spirit of celebrating Eid-ul-Azha”, she said in her message.
She hoped the day brings an everlasting joy, peace and happiness to the people of the State.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) Chairman Sajad Gani Lone extended warm greetings to the people of J&K on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In his felicitation message, Lone wished all Muslims around the world a peaceful and joyful Eid-ul-Azha.
“I extend my warm wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. May this Eid deepen the spirit of harmony, peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. I urge people to take extra care in view of the COVID-19 pandemic on this occasion”, he said in his message.
Reflecting on the lessons of sacrifice, compassion, unity and mutual respect, Lone said we must adhere to the teachings of Hazrat Ibraham (AS) and include the underprivileged sections of the society in our happiness.
“We should thank Almighty Allah for the blessings bestowed on us. Eid-ul-Azha teaches and reminds us of the meaning of sacrifice, love and forbearance with God and in our relationships with one another. We must remember economically downtrodden and underprivileged sections of the society who are worst affected by the COVID-19 lockdown and make them part of the Eid Celebration by extending all support to the people in need,” he said.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir felicitated people of the country especially Jammu & Kashmir on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
In his message, JKPCC President has said Eid-ul-Azha is a very sacred occasion, honouring the willingness of Prophet Abraham (AS) who, when asked by Allah to sacrifice a thing dear to him, and he readily agreed to sacrifice his son Ismail.
On the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, I sincerely wish people prosperity, good health and long life and hope that the occasion will be the harbinger of complete peace and stability in J&K, Mir said
He also urged the people to celebrate the occasion with austerity and take care of orphans, destitute and those who have no means of income to feed their families.
Celebrating Eid with simplicity and helping each other especially poor people is the essence and true message of Eid-ul-Azha, Mir added and wished people a very happy and prosperous Eid.
Former minister and Apni Party senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir felicitated the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the propitious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In his felicitation message, Ghulam Hassan Mir hoped this Eid brings along everlasting peace, happiness and prosperity to the people of J&K.
“The lesson, which such a holy festival teaches us, is to care for the fellow human beings who require our help and support. In these hard times, the essence of this sacred occasion urges us, especially those belonging to the affluent class in the society, to come forward for the rescue of the downtrodden, poor and needy,” Mir expressed.
