In Islam “Duniya” refers to the transitory world and contrast to the afterlife I mean it is nothing but mere eyewash. The world is defined as, “the field of Akhira” and “the place of examination”. Though the Muslims are taught and encouraged by the Holy Quran that enjoy the worldly life and do their best in it but at the same point of the time, the Holy Quran has also warned us do not get too attached to this temporal existence and as too much fondness with this materialistic world is nothing but a trapping towards destruction. In Islam Duniya is a test; success and failure lead to paradise and hell, respectively. Suicide is prohibited in Islamic law according to our Holy Book Quran, Sunnah and the consensus of Muslim scholars. A person who commits suicide commits a major sin, to such extent that even the most important Nimaz, “Nimaz-e-Jinaza” is prohibited for such a person. It is impermissible to commit suicide. Being a Muslim we are obliged to exercise patience at times of affication and fight the problems to the best of his/her ability. Through suicide we are not escaping the problem but we are putting ourselves in major problem, as we not only ruin our real life after death but at the same point of time one who commits a suicide ruins the life of his/her family members as well, so instead of succumbing sufferings that might be unbearable like depression, pain, stress, and despair but please these sufferings are mere temporary they will vanish with the thin air, only if we stood strong before such problems, but please do not ruin the real life after death permanently, just remember that one can tackle these temporary problems easily as Almighty has assured us in Holy Quran that :-
“ لَا هَل ُو ْسعا اها ِ ْف ًسا إ ُف هَّللاُ نا ّ لِاكُ ي” means that “ALLAH DOES NOT BURDEN A SOUL BEYOND THAT IT CAN BEAR” (2:286). From the Islamic point of view, suicide is strictly as sinful and detrimental to one’s spiritual journey. In Islam, ending once life is a serious Crime, a grave sin and a cause of punishment the suicide is strictly forbidden and condemned in the Holy Quran and the Ahadeeth as life is the gift of Allah. Almighty Allah is the only supreme authority who holds the authority over life and death.Yes human beings are liable to commit mistakes, but Allah forgives the sins and wipes them out. Only if the individual is truly sincere in repentance, and true to the causes and determined in intention. In the Quran, Almighty Allah is said to be the most merciful, the most-kind and forgive all sins, only if one repent. And don’t put yourself in that position where you don’t have even the option of repentance, moreover the big sin of unbelief is deemed unforgivable. The rising trend of suicide in Kashmir is becoming a very serious and urgent issues, young people, women’s and children’s are also choosing death over the precious blessing of life. The situation out there seems to take a heavy toll on the mental strength of the masses in Kashmir. As according to psychologists, the prolong conflict, tense, and violent incidents have severally affected the social fabric in Kashmir that is why the incidents of suicide have risen alarmingly. Hardly a day goes by without the sad news about suicide being published in local newspaper and media. At least 3 to 4 people mostly the person who have recently attained the age of maturity are committing suicide every day. Which is a matter of grave concern we should focus on this issue otherwise the future of Kashmir will be so dark.
The fundamental question that is absolutely vital for us to answer? That why are these persons taking such drastic step, when they even know they are doing the wrong thing, how should we stop this, who is responsible for such a worst situation in Kashmir in terms of suicide cases, what role can be played by the guardians of these young depressed boys? I personally feel that there are few things or reasons behind such drastic step like first of all that there is lake of affectionate/friendly bond between parents and children due to which child is not able to share any worst situation or problem with their parents such as academic stress etc ultimately they succumb the pressure, also being a conflict zone in Kashmir a depression is a huge problem in our hands, as we know that depression is something which leads people to focus on failures and disappointments, in such a situation a depressed person is able to focus only on failures or negative side of their situation, and he/she fails to focus on positive scenario of his/her situation, depression is such a dreaded disease that it takes away the positive thinking ability of a person, a person remains struck with the negative thought process, ultimately he fails to look into how to overcome problems, and unfortunately sometimes it lead them to take a very drastic step. As the charity begins from home, I feel same should be applied here, that before going into the community role we should focus on how parents and guardians can make a solid difference, that they should make a strong and friendly bond with their children’s, so that a child is able to share each and everything with them, furthermore being a human we should talk, encourage or support such depressed persons, so that they may find so hope and positive way in order to overcome such situation. We as a human need to make each other understand that every problem comes with a good solution, failure means that you have been given another chance to prove yourself, “Failure doesn’t mean end of the story” It is a high time that each one of us be it a parent, doctor, community elders, religious and spiritual heads, media and NGO should come forward and play a vital role in stopping the people from wasting a precious gift from Almighty Allah which is Life! “EVEN THE DARKEST NIGHT WILL END AND THE SUN WILL RISE”
