Pulwama:: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama , Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary Saturday convened a meeting of all magistrates of the district to review the arrangements for the upcoming festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
The meeting was informed that on the eve of Eid ul Adha, the Sheep Husbandry Department would set up sale outlets (Mandies) for the sale of sacrificial animals (Goats/Sheeps) at designated places across the district.
The DC stressed upon the officers to dispel the rumours circulating in social media regarding the ban on slaughter of sacrificial animals on the eve of Eid Al Adha.
He asked the concerned to take appropriate measures for ensuring Covid-19 protocols at the sale mandies and place banners/poster’s regarding Covid-19 SOPs to sensitize the masses. It was also directed that teams of the Veterinary department be kept at these mandies.
He also instructed the Food Safety department to activate its market surveillance squads to check the quality of food items viz.Bakery, Confectionery, Milk, Meat, Chicken, Vegetables and other essentials in the market and take strict action against the erring traders.
The DC on the occasion passed directions to FCS&CA, legal metrology and other concerned departments to intensify the market checking and ensure all commodities are sold at already fixed prices besides ensuring availability of all essential commodities in the market to avoid hoardings and profiteering.
He directed officers to ensure that the process of Ration distribution is completed before Eid so that people do not face any difficulty in this regard. He also directed the Municipal authorities and Rural Development to ensure proper fumigation, sanitation and cleanliness at all the public places amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The DC said strict orders have been placed so that no one should be allowed to violate SOPs related to COVID-19 because of anticipated consumer rush in the markets, and anyone found in such involvement will be dealt strictly under law.
During the meeting, the DC urged upon Sectoral officers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity barring curtailment schedule to the district. He asked the PHE department to keep water tankers in ready state to cater any exigent needs.
On the occasion, the Traffic police authorities were asked to ensure smooth movement of traffic. Similarly, Fire and Emergency authorities were asked to remain alert and establish fire tenders at specific places including near Shrines and other prominent religious places.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral , Awantipora , Tehsildars, EOs and other senior officers of the district.
