Pulwama:: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary Saturday said that Covid Appropriate Behaviour is simple and an effective tool to avert the 3rd wave of the pandemic.
The DC cautioned against any leniency and said that the coronavirus finds novel ways to re-emerge and hit back adding Vaccine and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (VAB & CAB) are vital to halt its resurgence and achieve pre-covid normalcy.
The DC said top researchers, virology experts and epidemiologists of the world are consistently warning about the possibility of another wave adding that it is the responsibility of every citizen to deny any chance for the virus to spread again.
Greeting people on eve of Eid ul Adha, DC called upon the people to religiously follow all Covid SOPs particularly at crowded places like Mandies, Masjids, Public Parks, Markets etc during ensuing Eid days. He said CAB should become part of our routine and the same must be duly followed in social, religious and other gatherings when chances of exposure to virus are more.
Choudhary made these remarks while addressing a presser called to give details on Covid scenario and measures taken in the district, at DC Office Complex here.
Congratulating the district for achieving cent percent inoculation of above 45 population with at least one dose, the DC impressed upon the beneficiaries to duly receive the 2nd jab on time as mandated by the guidelines. He stressed for continuing the ongoing drives with full momentum and energy so that the population achieves the herd immunity sooner.
Apprising on the vaccination figures, the DC said more than 2,63,445 lac doses have been administered to various categories of beneficiaries so far and doorstep inoculations are being affected to immunise the target population with 2nd dose as well.
Choudhary informed that to ensure observance of CAB at public parks, the enforcement teams under guidance of ADCs and Tehsildars are working on ground besides they do regular market checking to ensure the govt. rates of food and other essential items are not violated.
Hailing the dedication of every person involved in Covid control, the DC called for sustaining the mitigation efforts to curb the pandemic effectively.
