Srinagar:Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President, and Member of Parliament Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah have felicitated the people on the auspicious occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Ameer-e-Kabeer, Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) and prayed for increased prospects of peace and prosperity in J&K.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah while highlighting the immense and unparalleled contributions and legacy of Ameer-e-Kabeer, Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) said Shah-e-Hamdan (RA)’s role in spreading education, enlightenment and peace in the State formed the bedrock of our society’s cultural and religious identity. He said it was because of Shah-e-Hamdan (RA)’s vision that Kashmir became a hub of handicrafts of global fame and repute – an era which formed the basis of Kashmir’s rise towards economic self-sustenance and well-being.
“He is credited with building numerous mosques; he bought land at various places across Kashmir and bequeathed it to the Muslim Ummah. His relentless service in the field of Islamic learning, Tasawuf, socio-political emancipation of the downtrodden is matchless. The contribution of such Sufis, as Hazrat Ameer e Kabeer (RA) to the spiritualism and humanism in Kashmir is immense. He watered the teaching of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and had dedicated himself to the cause of humanity as a whole. His mission was to offer succor and solace to the suffering masses of Kashmir, and he didn’t discriminate in his mission. He encouraged people to live a life of piety and discipline and stressed that the real devotion of the Almighty was in the service of suffering man. He exhorted people to overcome pride, anger, and greed. There is a lot, which the new generation can imbibe from his life and teachings. The young ones should make it point to study the writing of Hazrat Ameer e Kabir,” he said adding, “I extend my warm greetings to people on the auspicious eve of the Urs hoping that it brings much needed peace, prosperity and tranquility to the beleaguered lives of the people in J&K.”
