Kulgam, Budgam : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler & recovered huge quantity of contraband substances in Kulgam and Budgam.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said that in Kulgam, on credible information regarding drug peddling in Bumrath area of Kulgam, a Police party from Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam raided the specific location and during searches conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate Kulgam recocered 300 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the residential house of Mohammad Yaqoob Mir son of Khazir Mohammad Mir resident of Bumrath who was later arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar incident in central Kashmir’s Budgam district a police party from PS Chrar-i-Sharief raided a specific location on specific information regarding drug dealings in village Zaloosa and during searches conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate recovered 25 Kgs of Poppy Straw from a residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Zaloosa Chrar-i-Sharief , Police in the above quoted statement further said that the above name accused of Zaloosa Chrar-i-Sharief is evading his arrest and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police said that with regard to above actions by the police in Kulgam and Budgam district cases under relevant sections of law were registered at the concern police stations and investigations have been taken up.
