Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din Wednesday visited Diver and Chandigam villages of Lolab where two boys lost their lives in separate drowning incidents, the other day.
The DC visited the homes of both the deceased, paid heartfelt condolences on the loss of lives and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families. He prayed for the departed souls.
He provided Rs. 10,000 each to the bereaved families under Red Cross relief.
Speaking at the occasion, the DC said that these ponds were constructed years ago for providing better irrigation and other facilities in the area. He appealed to the people of these areas to keep their children away from venturing in the irrigation ponds to prevent such incidents.
The DC during the visit was accompanied by SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad and Tehsildar Sogam.
