Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul inaugurates National Lok Adalat at Kathua

Kathua: Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Judge High Court of Jammu & Kashmir Saturday inaugurated A National Lok Adalat in the premises of District Court Complex Kathua.
On his arrival at district courts complex, the Justice was accorded the guard of honour and the ceremonial lamp was lighted.
Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul guided to settle the majority of pending eligible cases amicably in Lok Adalat and said every effort should be made to make National Lok Adalat fruitful for the society.
Under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Zaffer Hussain Beig, the Chairman constituted three benches for hearing different cases.
Bench No 1 comprised Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua, Sandeep Kour and Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua, Anjana Rajput. Bench No 2 comprised Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kathua Pooja Raina, and Panel lawyer District Legal Services Authority Kathua Naiya Sharma. Bench no. 3 comprised District Mobile Magistrate Kathua Brij Raj Singh, and Tehsildar Kathua Gaurav Sharma.
Besides, Lok Adalats were also organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committees Hiranagar, Basholi, Bani , Billawar and Mahanpur.
A total of 402 cases were taken up out of which 306 cases were disposed of/ settled. 19MACT cases, 02 Civil suits, 44 Criminal compoundable cases, 02 Petitions U/s 488crPc, 13 Pre-litigation bank cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat. Compensation worth Rs 1,12,10,000/-was awarded in the MACT cases, a Recovery of Rs 13,46,700/- was also made in favour of the Banks & a fine of Rs. 1,90,000/- was realized.
