Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday police said “officers from Police Post Jawahal Tunnel at a checkpoint established near Command Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AM-3663 driven by one person identified as Parvaiz Din son of Sardar Ali resident of Check Suijjan Kathua, Jammu”, adding that “during checking, officers recovered 03 Kgs of Poppy straw from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized”.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police said that a case vide FIR No. 171/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
