DGP sanctions ex-gratia/special welfare relief of Rs.1.43 Cr for NoKs of slain, deceased Police personnel

Srinagar:: With an aim to provide financial support to the families of the police personnel/ SPOs who were killed in the line of duty, the Director-General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs One Crore and forty three lakh as ex-gratia/Special Welfare Relief through different orders of PHQ.
The ex-gratis relief of 38 lakh and special welfare relief of rupees 20 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Ct Ramiz Raja and Insp. Parvaz Ahmad respectively who were killed in two different militant attacks. Special welfare relief of rupees 20 lakh each has also been sanctioned in favour of SgCt Mohammad Taj, Ct Dharam Singh and Follower Nirmal Subh who passed away while in service.
Rupees one lakh each has been already paid to the NoKs of slain and deceased police personnel for performing their last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Similarly aiming at providing financial support to the SPOs of J&K Police, Special Relief of rupees 4.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Surinder Singh and Manzoor Ahmad, who passed away during their engagement with the department.
Rupees 50,000 each have been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
Besides, PHQ has sanctioned ex-gratia relief of rupees five lakh each in favour of NOKs of CRPF ranks SI/GD Manga Ram, CT/Dvr. Ashok Kumar and CT/GD Jagannath Roy. They were killed in amilitant attack.
As a welfare measure Police Headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure enhanced help and assistance to the dependents, legal heirs and NoKs of its slain/deceased personnel/SPOs.
