Srinagar: An Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Sohan Singh has thanked the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha for mentioning his name in monthly Radio Talk show ‘Awaam ki Awaaz’, and appreciating his work and efforts during the pandemic COVID-19.
Recently, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha dedicated monthly Radio talk show to corona warriors who are at the forefront in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and appreciated their efforts in the current situation while putting their own lives at risk.
During the programme, the LG had shared some of the inspiring stories of covid warriors and responsible citizens, saluted their spirit and commended them for their dedication towards human service in these tough times.
Inspector Sohan said that it was highly encouraging and inspiring to see that LG Manoj Sinha appreciated him in radio talk show Awaam ki Awaaz, recognized and appreciated his work related to ongoing COVID-19.“I am highly grateful to Lieutenant Governor for appreciating my work and efforts related to Covid-19”, Inspector Sohan said. He adds that it is the matter of pride for whole police department that the Lieutenant Governor is himself monitoring and appreciating the work of our department.
Inspector Sohan Singh has done a commendable job in the ongoing pandemic Covid-19 and has been at the forefront not just for enforcement of covid SOPs and guidelines but also for the other humanitarian works. “Apart from maintaining routine duty of law enforcement, I am also helping all those families who need food, medicines or other items of daily living”, Inspector Sohan said. He adds that during these tough times we need to look after our neighborhood and help all those who are in need. “During COVID-19, we distributed dry and cooked ration among more than 5000 persons, besides medicines and other needful items among needy families”, Inspector Sohan says with satisfaction.
Considering it his moral responsibility to support the disadvantaged sections of society, Singh has been supporting children with educational materials to keep them engaged in reading, writing and painting. He has distributed books, copies and other stationery items among 800-1000 poor children, especially in slums. “In times of distress, people donate food and other items but forget about education and I am trying my bit to engage children in educational activities”, Singh said.
Apart from this, Inspector Sohan was incharge of the group to look after police personnel and their families who were affected by COVID -19 in Jammu district. “We used to enquire about our affected police personnel on daily basis and used to give them tele-consultation. Besides this, we home delivered medical kits and other necessary items to them”, Inspector Sohan said.
One of the remarkable work Inspector Sohan is proud of doing during COVID-19 is helping a rag picker suffering from serious bacterial infection in leg. “A ragpicker had come to me, asking for ration. I found that he was suffering from a serious bacterial infection in one of his legs. I immediately hospitalised him in National Hospital, Garigarh, Jammu without making him to worry about his expenses”, Inspector Singh said.
Inspector Sohan in his message to general public advises them to follow all the covid related guidelines and SOPs religiously besides all possible help should by provided to the needy families in these tough times.
In these tough times, people like Inspector Sohan Singh have lead with an example of humanity and kindness.
