As unlocking trade and business activities is bringing respite to people in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division , the crowds making bee lines at business outlets and banks in villages and towns could once again intensify the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic amid fear of arrival of deadly third wave of the pandemic anytime in coming few months .Allowing shops and business establishments to operate again amid gradual slowdown in the ongoing phase of the pandemic is obviously an attempt to give people the opportunity to resume their business operations for the purposes of keeping cash in their pockets for buying essential commodities in time . Gradual unlocking is an attempt of the government to reduce the fear of cash crunch and increase the purchasing capacity of the people badly hits by the second consecutive lockdown in last two years . Amid gradual unlocking of the business and trading activities across Jammu & Kashmir, the challenge before the government is the implementation of restrictions at crowded places particularly markets and banks to foil the arrival of deadly third wave of pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir . Knowing that reopening of the economy even in a phased manner, is fraught with Covid-19 transmission dangers , the government is restricting the business and trading activities to four days a week given the fact that even a phased restoration of public activities could lead to resurgence of the virus spread if the covid containment guidelines are not forcefully implemented by the civil and police authorities in the areas of their own jurisdiction across Jammu & Kashmir. Finally both the people and the law enforcing authorities have to respond to covid containment guidelines with wisdom but unfortunately the reports of violations of covid containment guidelines are pouring in from the isolated pockets of some north and south Kashmir districts.
While the undisputed fact is that the both the economy and as well as the working of the government has been badly hit by the intensifying COVID-Pandemic spread, the people have to prefer health safety over restoration of the routine process of public engagement keeping in view the potentiality of the deadly nature of COVID-19 pandemic and severely strained healthcare system across Jammu & Kashmir as this is the only way to avert all possible dangers.
Though government has imposed restrictions on the movements of the people on the weekend days at tourist places just to disallow crowding there, but people themselves have to show by their actions that they are wise enough to follow the social distancing and lockdown rules for the safety of their own lives.
