Extend deadline for vacating official accommodations in Jmu, Sgr: J&K CSC to CS

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat Coordination Committee has appealed to the Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta to extend the time period of vacating their accommodations in Jammu and Srinagar regions respectively.
J&K Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union (JKCSNGEU) and Lower Grade Employees Union’s request came after the orders were issued by the General Administration Department for the cancellation of residential accommodation of Government employees on the basis of their location-orders within the period of 21 days.
Various delegations of the civil secretariat have expressed their difficulties and problems with reference to insufficient time in vacating the residential government accommodations in view of looming Wave-III of Covid-19 as well as availability of transportation.
“Extension of time period at least up to November, 2021 for easing up the employees in vacating the Government residential accommodations keeping in view impending threat of Wave-II of Covid-19 as the employees cannot move en-masse for carrying their belonging from Jammu to Srinagar and Vice-versa,” it reads.
The document states that transportation facilities for both Jammu/Kashmir based employees and arrangements of vehicles for carrying their belongings to their respective destinations and grant of advance TA and DA as admissible under rules as shifting shall Involve financial burden.
“Adequate arrangements of boarding and lodging during their stay at both Headquarters of Jammu/ Srinagar till employees vacate their quarters and obtain necessary clearance from Estates Department,” it reads.
The document further reads that, “Estates Department shall ensure colony wise hassle free on spot clearance of these quarters. The period as may be involved in vacating the residential accommodations and in to and from journey may be treated as duty in respect of all such employees.
“The news of vacating residential government accommodations is known to everyone, as such it is also request that concerned authorities particularly Estates and Home Departments may kindly be directed to ensure that no theft or any other incident may take place till proper vacations of residential accommodations at Jammu and Srinagar,” they said
