Kupwara:Army in Kupwara on Saturday said that victory flames were on Saturday (3rd July) received with full military honours by soldiers of TMG Brigade at Kandy Bridge on 03 Jul 21, recalling therein that in view of countrywide commemoration of the ‘Golden Jubilee’ of Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had had commenced the celebration by sending out four Victory Flames to various parts of the country from National War Memorial, Delhi 16th December last year.
Stating that “ the victory flame was brought to the war memorial of TMG Brigade at Naugam and homage was paid to the valiant soldiers and their supreme sacrifice in service of the country”, army in it’s above reffered statement said “at the war memorial wreaths were laid to pay homage to War Heroes by Brigadier KDS Jhala, Commander, TMG Bde and the visiting dignitaries, and also Additional DC, SP Handwara and DDC Mawar”. Army in it’s statement also said “during 1971 war the porters of Mawar also became the backbone of the forces as their familiarity to the terrain and unbiased support and patriotism helped the forces to keep up the administrative support during the war”. “On this occasion of celebration of SWARNIM VIJAY VARSH, TMG Bde felicitated all these heroes for their dedication and patriotism towards the country and TMG Bde also organised a blood donation camp at Naugam and donated 27 units of blood” reads the army statement further.
