New Delhi:  National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said that it has arrested two more Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) ‘terrorists’ from Kairana in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh in Darbhanga parcel blast case.

The arrested ultras namely Mohd Salim Ahmed aks Haji Salim and Kafil aka Kafeel are residents of Kairana in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused Mohd. Salim Ahmed and Kafil are key conspirators in the case. The arrested accused met at the residence of Haji Salim in the month of February 2021 and finalized the plan of planting an IED in a moving train so that casualties and extensive damage to property can be caused.

“Haji Salim is a close associate of Pakistan based LeT operative Iqbal Kana and was acting as a key intermediary between Iqbal Kana and arrested accused Mohd Nasir Khan and Imran Malik. He was also involved in channeling funds sent by Iqbal Kana that were used in executing the terror act”, the NIA said.

The arrested accused would be produced before the Special NIA Court, Patna after obtaining transit remand from competent Court of UP, it added.

The anti-terror probe agency first arrested the two accused Mohd Nasir Khan and Imran Malik on June 30 from Hyderabad and was produced to Patna NIA Court on Friday.

This case was originally registered as FIR No. 26/2021 on June 17 at Railway police station Darbhanga in connection with to an explosion in a parcel on Platform 1 of Darbhanga Railway station.

This parcel had arrived in Darbhanga aboard Train No. 07007 Secunderabad-Darbhanga Express.
