Srinagar: Director Finance Health and Medical Education Department, Mohammad Rafiq Hajam, has passed away, officials said on Friday.
He had suffered a stroke earlier this week and was flown to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi where he died, they said.
“Sad to announce the demise of Director Finance H&ME Department (Mohammad) Rafiq at AIIMS where he was flown after suffering a stroke,” DIPR said a tweet
Meanwhile, the demise was widely condoled with Lieutenant Governor Maoj Singha saying that he was saddened by the Hajam’s untimely demise.“Saddened by the untimely demise of senior officer, Mohammad Rafiq Hajam, serving as Director Finance H&ME Department. He was a very efficient, dedicated officer who served in various capacities,” he said in a tweet. “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family,” he added.
The Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta also expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Hajam. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Chief Secretary prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to near and dear ones to bear this irreparable loss.The Chief Secretary remembered Mohammad Rafiq as a dedicated and competent officer who served with commitment in his capacity as Director Finance, Health & Medical Education Department, Director Finance, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, and Saddar Treasury Officer, Srinagar.
Additional Chief Secretary Atal Dullo also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the Hajam’s passing away. In this connection, he presided over a condolence meeting which was attended by middle and lower rung employees at Fifth Floor, Civil Secretariat Jammu, during which the participants prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the bereaved family on the irreparable loss.
The Additional Chief Secretary remembered Rafiq as an astute and competent officer who according to him served with commitment in his capacity as Director Finance, Health & Medical Education Department, Director Finance, Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department, and Saddar Treasury Officer, Srinagar.
In his condolence message, JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir has expressed deep sorrow over the passing away of Afroz Ahmad Beigh Mining Engineer (Geology & Mining Deptt) and Director Finance Muhammad Rafiq Hajam and
conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved families.
The deceased were competent and hardworking officers, I have no words to expressed my grief, Mir said as per a statement issued on Friday and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. JKPCC President conveyed deepest condolences to families and relatives of Afroz Ahmad Beigh and Muhammad Rafiq Hajam and prayed for their courage to bear the irreparable loss.
Mir also visited residence of Afroz Ahmad Beigh at Dyalgam in Anantnag district and personally conveyed his deepest condolences to bereaved family.
Private Diagnostic Centers Association (PDCA) president Umar Iqbal Dhar expressed his heartfelt condolence over the demise of Director Finance Health and Medical Education Muhammad Rafiq who passed away at AIIMS, after brief spell of illness. In a statement issued here on Friday Umar said that Rafiq was a noble and gentle soul and his untimely death has shocked entire medical fraternity including those associated with the Private Diagnostic Centre Association. while expressed solidarity with the bereaved prayed for the highest standards in heaven for the deceased stating that the departed soul was a helpful person and a practicing muslim and that his death has created a void in the department
which is difficult to fill.
KAS officers have also expressed deep sorrow and grief on the demise of Muhammad Rafiq Director Finance, Health & Medical Education department who passed away at AIIMS New Delhi after a brief illness.
In a condolence meeting held today, the KAS officers recalled his contribution on important and senior positions in J&K Accounts Cadre. His outstanding qualities as a kind hearted person and thorough professional were remembered by KAS officers.
The speakers made a mention of his expertise in accounts and finance related matters. Several retired IAS and KAS officers have also expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Muhammad Rafiq served on key positions like Treasury Officer Sadder Treasury Srinagar, Director Finance Agriculture Production and was currently posted as Director Finance Health & Medical Education. He also headed J&K Accounts Cadre Association and was instrumental in resolving several issues for better career progression of Accounts Cadre officers.
Muhammad Rafiq , it may be recalled was a 1999 batch KAS officer of Accounts Cadre and passed away at AIIMS New Delhi after suffering a stroke few days back. He had been air lifted to AIIMS for treatment but could not survive.
