Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Friday held a condolence meet at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar to mourn the sad demise of Director Finance Health and Medical Education department Mohammad Rafiq who breathed his last today at AIIMS, New Delhi after a brief illness. He was 52.
On Friday Rafiq suffered a massive ischemic stroke and was admitted at SMHS hospital. He was shifted on Sunday to AIIMS, New Delhi, where he succumbed to the illness.
Paying rich tributes to the deceased, DAK members prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Saddened over the death, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan said we have lost a gem of a person in the demise of Rafiq. His death is a great loss to the society. He was a true son of the soil. Nation has lost an asset, but I have lost a friend.
“A 1999 batch KAS officer, Rafiq held many crucial positions in the department of Finance. He was known for his honesty and ability. Because of that he had earned a lot of respect from his colleagues in the department,” he said.
“Born in Larve a small village in Kakapora area of Pulwama district, Rafiq was a man of impeccable integrity. He was a noble soul and always stood a helping hand to the needy and poor. He will be sorely remembered by everyone whose lives he touched,” said Dr Nisar.
