Positivity rate drops below 1%, about 98% population in 45+ age group vaccinated: DC B’pora

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Thursday briefed the media on the current Covid scenario, vaccination and other mitigation efforts put in place in the district.
Giving details, the DC Bandipora said that the active cases have drastically decreased in the district since last month and it has gone down to below one percent during last week.
He said the extensive vaccination drive is going on in the district and is in full swing with 97.7 percent of the above 45 age group has been vaccinated so far. He said 1.30 lakh doses have been administered to the 18 plus population out of which 88000 doses have been given to the 45 plus population.
He said with ease in restriction the administration has not lowered the guard but the mitigation efforts are on including the strict implementation of covid appropriate behavior, extensive testing and vaccination. He said there are 28 containment zones in the district and reiterated his appeal to the general public and all other stakeholders to continue following Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) strictly.
He said the joint efforts made by the Health, Civil and Police administration in the mitigation process of COVID-19 has yielded better results on ground across the district.
On the occasion of National Doctors Day, the DC lauded the efforts of the medical and para medic staff for working tirelessly since last year to fight the pandemic. He said the contribution of the medical and paramedic staff is immense and the society will remain indebted to them for times to come for working selflessly when they were needed the most.
To further improve positive indicators with regard to pandemic, the DC said that it is joyous moment that the people are following the SOPs and again appealed to them to follow the guidelines and SOPs religiously in same manner and get tested if they have any Covid symptoms at the nearest Covid Care Centre immediately.
