Srinagar: Deputy Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar on Wednesday visited PD Handwara where he chaired officers’ meeting, besides assessed law & order situation of the Police District during security review meeting.
On his arrival, the DIG NKR accompanied by SSP Handwara Sandeep Gupta & other officers visited all branches of DPO Handwara. He appreciated overall office work of the DPO and presented awards to many officials.
Later, the DIG NKR chaired a security review meeting with Police officers to assess the law & order situation in the PD. The meeting was attended by SP Handwara, ASP Handwara and other officers. During the meeting, Sujit Kumar directed the officers to strengthen the security grid and plug the gaps with tight security measures to neutralise those involved in terrorist activities. He said that stringent action has to be taken against the elements found involved in unlawful activities to ensure peaceful environment for the people.
He appreciated the role of Handwara Police for their professionalism in maintaining Peace and Public order and keeping the criminal activities under check. He also hailed the role of Handwara Police in combating drug menace in the Police District and exhorted upon the officers to remain cautious and alert to maintain peaceful atmosphere as anti-national elements are making efforts to disturb it.
DIG NKR also inaugurated a newly constructed block at DPO Handwara and a water plant at DPL Handwara for the welfare of Jawans. He also visited Police Station Vilgam to inspect the crime and other works of Police Station.
