Advisor Baseer visits Dara, Faqir Gujree, reviews Covid arrangements, inspects RDD, PDD works

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan Wednesday visited Dara, Fakir Gujree Srinagar to review the Covid-19 arrangements and inspected the ongoing Rural Development works in the area.
During his visit, Advisor also interacted with the District Development Council and Block Development Council members and listened to the issues of their concerned areas.
While interacting with the PRI members, the Advisor said the aim and objective of Wednesday’s visit is to have an interaction with stake holders who are critical in fighting war against COVID-19 pandemic. He said proactive approach initiated by the administration in tandem with the civil society and other social organizations including religious leaders has brought down the incidence of positive cases substantially.
He said that it is the responsibility of the PRI members to inform and educate the people about the Covid appropriate behavior and said that they need to be proactive in this regard. He said there are clear and categorical directions to get the vaccination of above 45 years age done and in this regard high degree of acceleration in the vaccination drive is required to be undertaken. Simultaneously vaccination for 18 and above is also needed to be pursued at a faster pace.
He said support and cooperation from PRI members is pivotal in containing Covid-19. Being a challenging task for everyone, he reiterated that strong commitment, resilience, effective alertness and dedication demonstrated by PRI members and all stake holders during this tough period is proving effective against COVID-19.
He directed the PRI members to intensify the Information Education and Communication (IEC) activities through awareness camps and lend their support to the health department so that maximum number of people are vaccinated. He said that they should make announcements on daily basis to inform people about the Covid appropriate behavior and the need for vaccination. He advised the PRIs to go for door to door implementation of the vaccination drive to make the program effective and to have a positive result in the fight against Covid.
The Advisor further emphasized that resumption of normal life is subordinate to completion of vaccination and said that all the line departments should work in close coordination to get the maximum number of people vaccinated.
During their interaction with the Advisor, the PRI members also raised various issues of public importance like macadamization of road at Nagbal and Astan Mohalla and demand for 250 kv transformer in Kumar Mohallah Kimber.
Advisor gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised by the members and assured an early redressal of their genuine demands and issues.
The Advisor also directed the PRI members to focus on the areas of public importance in their localities and identify works that are of critical importance in their respective areas. He said that tangible results should appear on the ground and the works should commensurate with the felt requirements of the area. He advised the officers and the PRI’s to identify the works of importance like contour bunds, flood protection, works that would protect soil erosion and help habitations placed at precarious spots under convergence. He also directed the officers to strictly adhere to the timelines and payments. He said wages should be released on time. The Advisor said that people have expectations from PRI members and they should live to the expectations of the public and deliver results on ground.
During his visit, the Advisor also visited the Covid Care Centres at Government High School Dara-B and New Type Public Health Centre Faqir Gujree and reviewed the status of vaccination and facilities provided to the patients. He impressed upon the officers to intensify the vaccination drive and start door to door campaigns in order to achieve the desired results, besides generating awareness among the local populace.
Advisor Baseer Khan while inspecting the Rural Development Works in Dara and Faqir Gujree said that rural infrastructure should be put to optimum use for overall betterment of the rural society.
He said that works should be properly thought-out before sanctioning and there should be strict monitoring of works on regular basis for smooth execution of projects. The Advisor inspected the ongoing works including construction of road at Dara- B under MGNREGA, development of graveyard at Faqir Gujree – B under Cluster Model Village and other works under different schemes and appreciated the works done by the Rural Development Department.
The Advisor directed the concerned Block Development Officer to ensure that all works are inspected on daily basis so as to ensure quality of work is maintained.
Enroute, the Advisor also visited the Haripora Harwan Grid station and directed the officers to gear up their efforts so that the grid station is completed within the timeline. Chief Engineer PDD informed the Advisor that the estimated cost of 160 MVA, 220/33kv GIS grid station is 160 crores and said that strenuous efforts are underway to complete the project within the set timeline.
