Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal on Saturday said that it prevented a minor girl from committing suicide in Shalhar Dab area of Ganderbal district.
Police in a statement issued here on Saturday said that police party from PP Shadipora led by In-charge PP Shadipora SI Gulzar Ahmad during routine patrolling in the evening hours found a girl attempting to jump into the river Jehlum at village Shalhar Dab, Ganderbal. After noticing her movement as doubtful, the police party rushed towards her and foiled her suicidal attempt. Police in the above referred statement also said that the rescued girl is resident of Magam Budgam and was handed over to her parents after proper counselling.
