Prime Minister’s Jammu & Kashmir All Party Meet (J&K APM) in Delhi was in no way a Himalayan climb down for BJP led NDA Government at the centre as the meeting which expectedly focused only on participation of J&K political parties in the delimitation process ended up with no assurance or statement from the Prime Minister on any issue excepting delimitation . By the dint of his actions Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proved it beyond doubt that he has cut out the agenda for his government on Jammu & Kashmir and there is no question of going back on that agenda. The first move on Jammu & Kashmir post August 5,2019 scenario is delimitation as already announced by both the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as well as the Home Minister Amit Shah on 15th August last year. Prime Minister invited representatives of all mainstream parties of Jammu & Kashmir just to ask them to participate in the delimitation process only to deny them the right to object to the final recommendations of the delimitation commission in coming few months months. Prime Minister convened and concluded the meeting only to carry forward his agenda on Jammu & Kashmir revolving around delimitation of assembly constituencies, conduct of assembly polls and restoration of statehood on the recommendations of an elected assembly for which elections will most likely be held immediately after the completion of delimitation process. Unfortunately the J&K leaders invited to attend the All Party Meeting generated hopes which are unlikely to come true till the last day of the Modi government in office. By his words and actions Prime Modi has left no one in doubt that the question of changing his tracks on J&K agenda does not arise at all. Nothing bad in it if Prime Minister listens J&K mainstream leaders . What mattered was the discussion on the issued raised by J&K leaders and interestingly Prime Minister only heard them but did not discuss any issue with them excepting delimitation.
People dropping their own agenda to let the opposite side impose it’s own agenda on them proves it beyond doubt that J&K leaders particularly those of Kashmir valley don’t deserve to be called the leaders. The J&K leaders by the dint of their actions inside and outside the Prime Minister’s meeting hall in Delhi have proved it that they don’t deserve to called leaders and need a proper training to attain the qualities of a leader.
Prime Minister did not even respond to their views on any issues excepting delimitation only to drop an indication that he has closed the chapter of discussions on his government’s actions over Jammu & Kashmir from August 5, 2019 onwards. The biggest advantage which the Prime had in convening the meeting was that all J&K leaders were speaking in conflicting voices even before the meeting so much so that they were even divided over the participation in the meeting. Instead of putting their own agenda before the Prime Minister, the J&K leaders discussed only Prime Minister’s one point agenda that was focused only on their participation in the delimitation process.
