Div Com (K) inspects several PMGSY roads  in G’bal, inspect Z-morh, Zojila tunnel projects

Ganderbal: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Saturday inspected various ongoing works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to have first-hand appraisal about the progress on these roads in the district.

During the visit, the Div Com was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, Chief Engineer Kashmir  PMGSY, SE PMGSY, Executive Engineer PMGSY and other concerned officers.

On the occasion,   the Div Com inspected several roads of PMGSY including Kullan-BotaKullan, NHW-Sarbal, NHW-Bhat Mohalla and Sumbal Bala-Check Gund roads.

While inspecting the progress on Kullan to Bota Kullan road, the Executive Engineer informed the Div Com that the sanctioned length of this road is  3.40 km at sanctioned cost Rs 454.90 lakh and a total of 60 percent physical work has been completed so far. Similarly 50 percent physical work on Sumbal bala to Check gund road is also completed and is sanctioned at cost of Rs 738.21 lakh. Besides, progress on other projects is also in full swing, he informed.

While highlighting the benefits of better road connectivity for development of rural areas, the Div Com  stressed for redoubling efforts and regular monitoring of such roads so that they could be completed well in time without any hurdles.

He directed the concerned officers to immediately settle all issues that are hampering the progress of projects like land compensation, court cases (if any), shifting of utilities, forest issues etc so that road infrastructure in rural areas is developed in the shortest possible time.

He also directed the officers of PMGSY to expedite the work progress on all ongoing/pending schemes so that they get completed in a time bound manner.

The Div Com exhorted for optimum utilizing this working season and stressed for greater coordination among the line departments for removing all bottlenecks that are hampering the progress of Road projects in the district in larger public interest.

Later, the Div Com visited Baltal Base Camp where he chaired a preliminary meeting with district officers to review the arrangements put in place in view of the visit of Lieutenant Governor on 28 June to Amarnath holy cave. He also inspected the facilities available at the Baltal Base camp Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Div Com also visited the Z-morh and Zojila tunnel project sites and inspected the work progress of both the projects.

The Div Com directed the concerned to expedite the work progress and stressed that all stakeholders shall work with synergy to complete both projects in a time bound manner which on completion will provide all weather connectivity and facilitate Socio-economic boost to Jammu & Kashmir.

Gurjeet Kamboo, Executive Director (Project) Regional Office Srinagar, Vijay Kant Pandey General Manager (project ) PMU Sonmarg, Alok  Saxena  General Manager (Land Acquisition & Coordination) and other officials were present on the occasion.
