DGP reviews Crime, Security scenario in Jammu Zone

“Expedite investigation in criminal cases; DIsG, SsP must supervise heinous crime probes”

Srinagar: Stressing on adoption of latest techniques and standard practices to expedite the investigation of criminal cases, the Director General of Police, J&K Dilbag Singh said that professional policing under the direct supervision of senior jurisdictional officers would enhance the ability of cops in crime investigation. The methods adopted should be revisited for productive and speedy completions of investigations, he added.
DGP was chairing a meeting of senior officers of Jammu Zone to review the crime & security scenario in Jammu Province, wherein different aspects of the security of the zone crime situation was discussed threadbare.
During the meeting progress of various heinous crime cases came under discussion. The DGP directed the officers to conduct investigations efficiently so that culprits do not go scott free due to faulty investigation. The DGP stressed for adopting the latest technology and standard practices to expedite investigation of cases on merits for judicial determination. He said that to improve the conviction rate and disposal of sensational crime cases range DIsG along with district SSsP should supervise the investigations. He directed the jurisdictional officers to hold regular review meetings to ensure better public deliverance and rule of law.
Referring to the menace of drugs, the DGP said that war against drugs and its peddlers need to be intensified. He stressed upon officers to take preventive measures to check drug abuse in the society. He directed that those involved in drug trafficking should be dealt with stern action and book the criminals under relevant provisions of law. He stressed upon the officers to ensure the disposal of all pending narcotic cases and directed that quality of investigation and disposal of these cases needs improvement. He said that the Gazetted officers must ensure that all technical norms of NDPS cases are complied with.
The DGP impressed that training workshops/sessions must be organized for capacity building. He said by training the investigating officers will improve their efficiency and skills in cracking modern crimes with the latest technologies. He stressed for involving all personnel in daily routine physical training and weekly parades for their better physical fitness. He directed the officers to hold darbars for their subordinates and redress their grievance.
At the outset of the meeting, the ADGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh briefed the DGP J&K about crime scenario in Jammu Province. District Superintendents of Police of the Zone through their power point presentations gave detailed resume of crime scenario in their respective jurisdictions. They apprised about the achievements and action taken in different crime cases.
Among others, the meeting was attended by DIsGP, Vivek Gupta, Mohammed Sulaiman Choudhary, and all district SSsP of Jammu Zone
