Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested seven drug peddlers in Anantnag, Kulgam & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said “ In Anantnag, Police received information through reliable sources that Aijaz Ahmad Mir and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir both son’s of Mohammad Maqbool Mir resident of Doonipora Sangam have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded a large quantity of contraband substance in their residential house”.
Stating that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific location, police in the above referred statement further said that during search, 60 Kgs of Poppy Straw (Fukki) concealed in three Nylon bags were recovered from the said house, stating therein further that both the accused persons were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar incident in Sopore, officers from Police Post Warpora at a checkpoint established at Warpora intercepted two persons identified as Nissar Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Ahad Lone resident of Pethbugh Warpora and Rayees Ahmad Peer son of Abdul Rasheed Peer resident of Nowpora Baramulla.
Stating that during checking, officers 3168 Spasmoproxyvon capsules concealed in a bag were recovered from the possession of the above named accused from their possession, police in it’s statement also said that it has also also apprehended two drug peddlers in Warpora, Sopore and recovered 158 Spasmoproxyvon capsules from their possession identified as Danish Bashir Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir resident of Behrampora Rafiabad and Adil Ashraf Najar son of Muhammad Ashraf Najar resident of Nowpora Baramulla.
Police in it’s statement further said that in yet another similar incident in Kulgam, police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established near Simnania Colony intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK22B-6962 ridden by one person identified as Dilbar Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Razaq Bhat resident of Labripora Kulgam and during checking, 550 grams of Charas were recovered from his possession.
Stating that all the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement said “Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”, stating therein further that “cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations and further investigation has been initiated”.
