2-day online National Yoga Workshop concludes at GDC Banihal

Ramban: As a part of 7th International Day of Yoga celebration, Government Degree College Banihal (J&K) in coordination with Debates and Seminar Committee, NSS/NCC units of college organized two day online National Yoga Workshop under the ambit of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav , 2021 on the theme, Be with Yoga, Be at Home.
Principal of the College Dr. Manohar Lal presided over the event. He also presented the welcome address and highlighted the usefulness of Yoga in keeping the people stress free in Tuesday’s fast paced world.
On the first day, the event was addressed by 2 resource persons, former Principal Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, Nagpur, Dr. Anil Karwande and Coordinator NET-JRF Gurukul, Dr. Sangita Khare.
In his lecture, Dr. Anil Karwande described in a holistic manner the meaning of Yoga, particularly Ashtanga Yoga and its components like Yama, Niyama, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Asanas, Dharna, Dhyan and Samadhi.
In her presentation, besides talking about various physiological and psychological health benefits of Yoga, Dr. Sangita Khare, also mentioned about soma yoga techniques to lower hypertension.
On the second day, Faculty at RTM University Nagpur, Dr.Rakhi Vyaghra, deliberated upon the scientific conception of Yogasanas and their role in improving the immune system, digestion, sleep and so on. The ten year old Anusha Shrivastava demonstrated various asanas like.
The proceedings of the online program were conducted by the Convener Prof. Sajad Ahmed Sultan, and Co-Convener, Deepak Kumar and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Ajay Kumar.
