2 drug peddlers arrested in Ang, Contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in the districted and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Saturday police said that officers from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established on NHW44 intercepted two persons identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Akbar Bhat and Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Gull Mohd Dar both residents of Semthan Bijbehara from whom 20Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in two nylon bags was recovered after which they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that on the disclosure of the above named accused two more bags containing 35Kgs of poppy straw were recovered from the house of accused Nisar Ahmad Dar in presence of a Magistrate, police in the concluding para of it’s statement said that a case vide FIR No. 181/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
