Jammu:Police in Jammu on Friday said that it has arrested a rape accused by from Chandigarah.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that it received a written complaint on June 12 this year which was lodged by mother of a girl that one person has committed rape on her daughter.
Stating that on this case FIR No. 23/2021 U/S 376 IPC got registered at PS Women Cell and investigation was started, police in it’s statement further said “after this special team of P/S Women Cell under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Swati Sharma was constituted and the team led by SHO P/S Women Cell Inspr. Anita Katal connected the various leads and after hectic efforts got the input that the suspect has fled away to Punjab”.
Police in it’s statement said that the team was sent to Punjab where with the support of technical assistance of the native police of the concerned areas police team finally zeroed in on the accused and arrested him from a hotel room at Zirakpur near Chandigarh border from where he was planning to flee away to Nepal. In the concluding para of it’s police said that the accused was finally arrested and has been identified as Gagan Angral S/O Prithvi Raj R/O Ashok Nagar Satwari Jammu, stating therein further that investigation of the case is going on
