Srinagar : Police in Handwara and Kulgam on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police in a statement issued here on Wednesday said that in Handwara, officers from Police Post Magam at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Magam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK13B-4500 with three persons on board identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Puwama, Hilal Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rashid and Sajad Ahmad Bakshi sons of Gull Bakshi both residents of Chogal, stating therein further that during checking 1.70Kgs of Charas and cash amount of Rs 10,730/- were recovered from their possession after which they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that a case FIR No. 189/21 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated. It is pertinent to mention here that all the three accused persons were busy in inter district trade of drugs.
Stating that in a similar incident in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district the officers at a checkpoint established at Mirhama under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam intercepted a person riding on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK18B-8001 identified as Showkat Ahmad Zargar son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar resident of Lirow. During checking and recovered 200gms of Charas from his possession, police in the second half of it’s statement said that the above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.Police in it’s statement also said that a case FIR No. 141/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.
