Political activist detained at G’bal released : Police

Srinagar/June,16 : Police on Wednesday released Sajad Rashid Sofi a political activist of Safapora  Ganderbal  arrested after a heated exchange of words with an IAS officer last week . The political activist was also granted bail by a local court.

Confirming his release SSP Ganderbal Suhail Munawar said that Sajad has been released, reported local news gathering agency KNS. It may be mentioned here that National Conference President Omar Abdullah a former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state, Peoples’ Conference and CPI(M) State Secretary M. Y Tarigami had in their separate statement objected to the detention of the said political activist allegedly for his remarks against the non local IAS officers. National Conference Member Parliament Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi had also in a separate statement has reminded the government that there is already a Supreme Court  observation which says ” “People in power and authority should not easily lose equanimity, composure. Arrogance and vanity have no place in discharge of their official functions and duties” . Masoodi had in his statement called the government action against the political activist a new low in ” intolerance”.
