Member Parliament BL Verma calls on LG in Srinagar

Srinagar: B.L Verma, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from Uttar Pradesh Tuesday called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha here at Raj Bhavan. Verma shared with the Lt Governor his views about the present development scenario of Jammu & Kashmir and also discussed wide ranging issues of public importance. The Lt Governor observed that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a new era of development and prosperity. The Government is taking several reformative measures for socio-economic development and empowerment of the people of J&K, he added.
New selection committee constituted for appointment of SKUAST-K VC
Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Tuesday constituted a new selection committee to draw up a panel of names for the post of vice-chancellor of Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)- Kashmir.
According to an order the government has constituted a four-member committee to submit names for choosing the next VC of the prestigious institution.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section (1) of section(25) of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Act, 1982, and in suppression of government order No. 117- JK( Agri) of 2020 dated 27-06-2020, sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a selection committee for drawing up a panel of names for appointment to the post of vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Kashmir,” reads the order.
The committee comprises of Dr Mangala Rai, former vice-chancellor of G.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Director General Indian Council for Agricultural Research(ICAR), Chairman University Grants Commission or his nominee and Atul Duloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education.
It is pertinent to mention that government had in June last year constituted a committee headed by Financial Commissioner Finance, Arun Kumar Mehta and comprising Director General (DG) Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR); Chairman UGC or his nominee, VC SKUAST, Jammu, Dr JP Sharma and nominee of the Chancellor of the University to draw up a panel of names for the coveted position
