Ang: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2021, the Deputy Commissioner (Chairman District Red Cross Society) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla Monday inaugurated Blood Donation Camp at Dak Bangalow Khanabal here.
The camp was organised by District Red Cross Society Anantnag in collaboration with GMC, Anantnag.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the blood donation is a noble need which saves precious human lives. Sometimes, even a single drop of blood can prove life saving, he added.
Calling upon people to come forward for blood donation, the DC said it benefits health by stimulating the process of blood formation in the body and thus should become our habit both for our personal health and for fulfilling social responsibility.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh coordinated the activities of the camp besides supervising the donation process.
Sheikh also led the donation drive and was the first person, among a total of 41 donors including officials from other departments and police and security persons, who donated their blood on the occasion.
Highlighting the importance of blood donation, the ADC said it ensures the blood banks are replenished regularly for timely utilisation by patients in need of blood. He said it is a big philanthropic activity and all healthy individuals should donate blood to serve humanity in real sense.
Pertinently, the donors were tested for Covid-19 beforehand by Rapid Antigen method for ensuring safety of the recipients.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad, District Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra, Khalil Mohammad and other officials alongwith their subordinate staff attended the camp.
The aim of this day is to spread awareness about blood donation to save and serve humanity.
