Srinagar:: The Department of Tourism in coordination with district administration Budgam held a day long awareness camp for ponywallas and other tourism stakeholders at Doodpathri, Budgam Saturday.
Addressing the awareness camp, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam/CEO, Doodpathri Development Authority, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone impressed upon the stakeholders to undergo COVID vaccination programme so that once tourists start arriving in good numbers they are able to welcome them without any fear. He also impressed upon them the need to keep the destination dirt free and clean.
In her address, Joint Director, Tourism, Tabassum Kamili said the Department launched a massive vaccination drive all across Kashmir among the tourism stakeholders and so far around 80% of stakeholders have been inoculated. She appealed all tourism stakeholders to get remaining members of the trade vaccinated to start a safe, responsible and confident tourist season once again.
On the occasion, the tourism unit holders were made aware about the importance of getting registered with the Department for carrying out fair trade activities. Officers explained to them the requirements and formalities to be completed for getting registered with the Department as mandated under J&K Registration of Tourist Trade Act.
The awareness camp was attended by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Khansahib and Beerwa, Deputy Director, Tourism (Registration & Publicity), Tehsildar, Khansahib, Tourist Officer, Doodpathri, other officers and a large number of ponywallas and other tourism stakeholders.
