Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Saturday urged the people not to lower the guard in view of significant decline in Covid-19 positivity rate in the district and called for strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines issued by the government from time to time to prevent its spread.
The DC said this during a media briefing held here to apprise them of the Covid situation, containment and mitigation measures.
Giving details, the DC said that the recovery rate has increased to a great extent in the district whereas, the positivity rate has significantly come down to 4.6 percent in the district. He congratulated all those persons involved in Covid-19 mitigation efforts for their hard work and good result.
He further said that the number of total positive cases recorded in the district is 371, while the number of recovered patients is significantly increasing to a great extent. Besides, he said 58 deaths have been recorded in the district since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic.
To deal with any future Covid resurgence, the DC said that 5-bedded facilities equipped with all required medical infrastructure have been established at 98 Panchayats so that immediate medical help can be given to the Covid patients of the respective areas.
The DC said that unlock does not mean that people should ignore SOPs, but the people are once again appealed to strictly follow the guidelines, make usage of masks, maintain social distancing and wash hands properly to avoid spread of virus and break the chain.
