Anantnag: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla Thursday said that strong road infrastructure is important to enhance the connectivity across the district besides giving convenience to public commuting on these roads.
The DDC said this while reviewing the progress on PMGSY roads in a meeting with officers and engineers of PMGSY, revenue and other concerned departments at Dak Bungalow Khanabal, here.
Dr Singla directed the concerned officers to immediately settle routine hindrances like court cases, ROWs, forest issues, contractor issues, shifting of utilities, compensation etc so that road infrastructure is developed in the shortest possible time.
He also directed the officers of PMGSY to fully utilise the current working season and complete the ongoing/pending works in a time bound manner. He also called for greater coordination among the line departments for removing the bottlenecks in larger public interest.
The DDC stressed on strengthening of physical connectivity adding that the same would ameliorate the public woes caused by damaged roads and non-availability of road links besides boosting various economic activities in the district.
The SDMs and Tehsildars were asked to extend full cooperation for sorting out the revenue matters of the PMGSY roads. He also directed officers of other related departments viz PDD, Jal Shakti, etc to shift the utilities soon so that the targets are achieved in time.
Ex. Engineer PMGSY, Khalid Mehmood informed the meeting that 11 km road length has been completed in this season so far and roads are being constructed/maintained under 45 different schemes across the district. He added that a major stretch of above 4 km road length was recently completed at Ranbirpora-Ranipora.
The meeting was also attended by ADDC, CPO, SDMs, Ex. Engineers and AEEs of Jal Shakti and PDD besides other concerned officers.
