Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Thursday said that it has arrested a bootlegger and recovered 15 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Thursday police said “a police party of Police Station Qazigund led by SHO Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Damjen crossing on Srinagar-Jammu highway intercepted a suspicious person who tried to escape from the spot, but the alert Police party tactfully apprehended him after which he was identified as Basharat Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh resident of Checki Rajwali Vessu.
Claiming that 15 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the above named accused, police in it’s statement further said that above named accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, stating further therein that a case FIR number 134/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation was initiated.
