Recovery rate 90%, surveillance for testing, vaccination of vulnerable groups being done: DC Pulwama

Pulwama: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Chowdary Wednesday said that the recovery rate of Covid-19 positive cases has touched 90 percent in the district.
The DC said this during a press briefing aimed to present a detailed scenario of Covid-19 situation in the district, besides apprising about measures taken to curb spread of the virus in the district.
Giving details, the DC said that Pulwama has recorded a 90 percent recovery rate and there are 1450 active cases in the district at present. He informed that the present positivity rate in the district is 5.7 percent while death rate has declined to 1.3 percent.
He further said 25000 tests were conducted in all containment zones and at other requisite locations last week, in which 8500 tests were conducted at newly established CCC’s at all 190 Panchayat Halqas.
Appreciating the efforts of ground level workers, the DC said that since April 95000 Jabs as first dose and 30,000 Jabs as 2nd dose have been administered to priority groups in the district. He added that Block Rajpora will achieve 100 percent vaccination of the target population in the next two days besides 80 percent vaccination is completed in rest blocks.
Choudhry said District Administration has initiated door to door surveillance in order to trace the vulnerable old age and senior citizen patients for their Testing and Vaccination. He also said that all emergency services at DH Pulwama will be resumed soon after complete fumigation of Hospital premises.
The DC impressed upon the people to get vaccinated and also desist from coming out of their homes unnecessarily to help break the chain of the virus. He urged people to follow the COVID-19 guidelines in letter and spirit besides adopting covid-appropriate behavior for public health and our collective safety.
