Bramulla: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar Tuesday chaired a meeting with the functionaries of Irrigation and Flood Control (I & FC) department to take stock of irrigation and other necessary related aspects.
The meeting was convened in view of the current agricultural season so as to make all the related necessities well in advance for the welfare and convenience of farmers.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on some issues was held during which the DC directed to complete the de-siltation of various canals in convergence mode with the Rural Development Department.
He also directed for executing the same process at Divisional and Tehsil levels where the concerned SDMs and Tehsildars respectively have been mandated to monitor the desiliting process.
The DC also took a brief appraisal about the functioning of irrigation pumps wherein he stressed to ensure that these pumps work smoothly and in a hassle free manner.
Emphasizing upon the concerned officers to streamline the flow of water in irrigation canals so that the farmers may not face any inconvenience due to water shortage, the DC directed for submitting reports on a regular basis so that effective monitoring of the process is ensured.
Moreover, he urged upon the farmers to play a pivotal role and cooperate with the concerned agencies for proper and timely de-siltation of canals.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ahsan Mir, Joint Director Planning, ACD, Engineers of concerned departments.
