Kupwara: Establishment of COVID Care Centres at Panchayat level has been one of the significant steps taken by the Government, announced last month to create more capacity in terms of facilities to deal with rising cases. The intent has been to facilitate people in rural areas who may not have enough space in their house holds to keep infected person of their family in home isolation.
The move was not less than a ray of hope for poor and rustic people living in farflung and hilly terrains of district Kupwara because most of the rural populace are without the basic facilities which are required during home isolation. People across the district have welcomed the decision of establishment of 5 bedded Covid Care Centres at Panchayat level.
In Kupwara district, out of total 385 Panchayat Halqas, 325 COVID Care Centres (CCC) have been activated so far, while as remaining 60 CCCs are being established in coming days.
The move started with establishment of two panchayat level Covid Care centres, one at Zurhama-B and another at Poshpora-A of Kupwara district. These Covid Care Centres are meant to cater to the needs of the patients with mild symptoms of Covid and who do not have proper space available at their home for self isolation. These Covid Care Centres have been equipped with 5 beds, of which one bed is oxygen supported besides other items like oxygen concentrators, mini thermo scanner, oximeters, masks and other basic health equipment to meet the requirement of the patients at local level.
Enlisting the efforts of the Government, Showkat Ali Khan, Sarpanch Zurhama-B, appreciated the steps of the Government for establishing the Covid Care Centre in the local Panchayat Ghar at Zurhama- B. He said that the COVID care centre will provide relief to the poor people who didn’t have enough space in their home to isolate themselves for their recovery. “They can now easily undergo quarantine in the local Covid Care Centre with all essential facilities”, he added.
District Administration is regularly monitoring the progress of establishment of Covid Care Centres and man power has been deployed to facilitate people to avail these facilities located within their respective panchayat halqas.
