Ayush working shoulder to shoulder with Health dept to fight ongoing pandemic

Bandipora: The Department of Ayush District Bandipora is working shoulder to shoulder with the Department of Health in fighting the ongoing pandemic.
District Nodal officer Department of AYUSH District Bandipora, Dr. Reyaz Ahmad Khan said that the department has pressed all its human resource into the service working shoulder to shoulder with the department of health in contact tracing, surveillance teams, Rapid Response Teams, managing quarantine Centres and also motivating population for RAT testing and vaccination besides awareness campaigns.
“RAT testing and vaccination has been carried out at many ISM Institutions as such the department with all its resources is whole heartedly serving the common masses,” he said.
Khan said the Department in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India and as per the direction of Director Indian Systems of Medicine J&K Dr. Mohan Singh has also been providing Immunity boosting medicines among frontline workers from the very beginning of onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
He said till date a total population of 94880 has been provided immunity booster kits in District Bandipora. “The department provided immune booster medicines to the officers, officials of District, Block Administration, police personnel, paramilitary personnel (CRPF, BSF) Municipal workers in addition to the inhabitants of Containment zones, Covid Care Centers, and level 2, level 3 Covid Hospitals” he also said.
The department is also going to conduct a 40 minutes online yoga demonstration from next week as it can play a significant role in the psycho-social care, in allaying their fears and anxiety and rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients in quarantine and isolation.
Dr Khan said besides getting vaccinated, the best way of preventing Covid-19 infection is by enhancing an individual’s body immunity, identifying the infection early, timely medical care and vaccination. He said the medicines distributed by the department among the frontline workers, Asymptomatic and symptomatic Covid-19 patients are mostly immune-modulators, some are for symptomatic treatment and few are rejuvenators and these drugs have shown promising results.
He said the medicines distributed are based on Essential Drugs List, Standard Treatment Guidelines, Ayurveda/Unani Pharmacopoeia of India, and Ministry of AYUSH Govt. of India along with considerations from other recommendations issued by various health authorities across India.
Nodal Officer ISM said the department is also conducting awareness programs regarding preventive measures like physical distancing, hand hygiene, wearing mask, additional care in case of elderly, children, and individuals having comorbidities or immune-compromises.
“The frontline workers and public are also advised to stay aware of the latest information on the Covid-19 outbreak available on official websites of national public health authorities,” he said while advising people to practice yoga, exercise regularly at home during lockdown.
“The department is all set to revive the infrastructure of ISM institutions by way of up-grading them to AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre’s under National AYUSH Mission and also by way of construction of new dispensaries wherever there are rented buildings,” Khan added.
“Under National AYUSH Mission manpower is also being augmented and in near future AYSUH will provide better healthcare at the doorstep of common masses” he added.
