Fake currency notes recovered, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar: Police in Handwara on Tuesday said that it has arrested an individual and recovered fake Indian currency notes from his possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said “ A police party from Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Rasripora Bridge signalled one suspicious person to stop who tried to escape from the spot but was tactfully chased and apprehended by the alert party and identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohi Uddin resident of Dangiwacha Rafiabad”.
Stating that during searches 47 counterfeit currency notes of ₹2000 denomination (total amount of ₹94000/-) were recovered from his possession after which he was arrested and shifted to Police Station kralgund where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement said “a case FIR No. 31/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station kralgund and investigation into the matter has been initiated”.
