Hit and run case solved in Kulgam, accused arrested within hours: Police

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Saturday said that it has solved hit and run case by arresting the accused within hours after the accident.
In statement issued here on Saturday police said “ police post Mirbazar had received information wherein it was stated that a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03J-2738 was hit by unknown vehicle resulting grievous injuries to the biker & pillion rider and both are lying on road in unconscious state at Ganjipora on NHW area of Mirbazar. The driver of the vehicle fled away from spot along with vehicle”.
Stating that acting promptly, a police party reached on the spot and found both the persons dead on the road side who were identified later as Shahid Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Rashid Malla and Majid Rashid Ganai son of Abdul Rashid Ganai both residents of Bongund Dooru, Police in it’s statement further said “a case vide FIR No. 116/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Qazigund and a special team under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted”.
Disclosing that the special team led by I/C PP Mirbazar after strenuous efforts intercepted the involved vehicle (Wagnor Car) bearing registration number JK03G-7799 along with the accused driver from Furra area of Anantnag within three hours after the information was received, the police in it’s statement said that the accused driver was identified as Mohd Hussain Tantray son of Abdul Rahim Tantray resident of Furra.
Police in it’s statement further said that the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle involved in the commission of crime was also seized, stating therein further that further investigation of the case is in progress.
