5 gamblers arrested in G’bl & B’gam, stake money seized: Police

Srinagar: Police in Budgam and Ganderbal on Friday said that it has arrested five gamblers from gambling sites and seized Rs 8800/- stake money
In a statement issued here on Friday police said “In Ganderbal, a police party from Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided a gambling site at Latti Authkhuroo, Shadipora following an input about gambling activities and apprehended two gamblers”, adding that “ the accused have been identified as Mohammad Hanief Guru resident of Latti Authkhuroo and Nazir Ahmad Dar resient of Latti Gund Roshan”.
Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹3300/- and playing cards from the gamblers who were shifted to Police Station Ganderbal where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said “ a case FIR No. 86/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been initiated”.
Police in a statement also said that in anther similar incident in central Kashmir’s Budgam distict a police party from Police Station Khag on specific information raided a gambling site in village Hardu Suresh Khag following an input about gambling activities and apprehended three gamblers identified as Abdul Sattar Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Sattar Sheikh and Mohammad Yasin Sofi son of Ab Rehman Sofi all residents of Peth Sharen Khag”. Stating that stake money of Rs5500/- and playing cards were siezed from the gamblers, police in the concluding para of of it’s statement said that the above named accused were shifted to Police Station Khag where they remain in custody and a case FIR No. 38/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Khag and investigation initiated.
