Anantnag: The District Administration Anantnag, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Piyush Singla, in collaboration with Health Department Tuesday started the targeted vaccination drive for the prospective beneficiaries in age group 18-45 years who have been identified after proper risk assessment owing to their susceptibility and vulnerability to the infection.
The process commenced smoothly and 10 special vaccination sites were established across the district where 546 people from service providers associated with tourism, media persons, officials of municipalities, shopkeepers, salesmen and other eligible beneficiaries of 18-45 years received their first vaccine dose.
The centres were established at accessible destinations so the beneficiaries could easily approach these centres and get vaccinated.
ACR, Syed Yasir and Dy. CMO, Dr. M. Y. Zagoo visited the sites and monitored the vaccination operations besides coordinating the efforts of line departments.
The DC, in whose supervision the whole vaccination drive was started, said that the district is aiming to vaccinate the targeted population within the 18-45 years age group in the nearest future besides those who are above 45 years.
He also directed the line departments to work in coordination and cohesion so that the drive goes smooth and hassle free.
Dr. Singla reiterated that vaccination is the best viable option against the pandemic along with adherence to Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines and urged the eligible people to get vaccinated at an earliest.
Meanwhile, the people hailed the move and thanked the district administration and health authorities for taking timely and decisive steps for mitigating the deadly disease.
