Srinagar: Police in Kulgam on Tuesday said that it has arrested two accused persons involved in raping a girl within half an hour after complaint was received.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said “Police Post Mirbazar received a written complaint from a girl (name withheld) stating therein that she was wrongfully restrained and forcibly raped by a person namely Mudasir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Rashid Ganie resident of Banimulla with the assistance of another person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Mohd Naik resident of Gadool in a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration No. JK18-9100 on NHW at Nipora near Petrol pump”.
Stating that accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 111/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Qazigund and investigation was initiated, police in it’s statement said that a special team headed by I/C PP Mirbazar under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted following which the team after strenuous efforts generated a specific information by utilizing all available means and arrested both the accused persons within half an hour after complaint was received”. Police in it’s statement further said that the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody and vehicles used in the commission of crime were also seized, stating therein further that as part of investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities were carried out.
