14297 works to be taken up for execution at Kupwara during current fiscal

Kupwara- The District Administration, Kupwara Tuesday organised a joint meeting of officers and public representatives at DC Office Complex, here to discuss the formulation and implementation of District Development Council Plan for the year 2021-22, modalities for formulation of District Development Plan 2021-22 with BDCs and DDCs.
The Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC), Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori; Vice Chairperson, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din ; ADDC Nazir Ahmad Lone; Presidents of Municipal Councils/ Committees, Chairpersons of BDCs, DDC members, and District Officers attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner, in the opening session of the meeting highlighted the schemes and other major components of the District Development Plan for the current fiscal through PowerPoint presentation.
While highlighting the role of elected PRIs, DDC members, the Deputy Commissioner said that the District Development Plan has assumed immense significance after the formulation of District Development Councils, Block Development Councils thereby completing the three tier PRI system to ensure democratic decentralization.
He said for the first time, proportionate funding to all three tiers of PRIs is being ensured to cater to the development aspirations of the people through DDCs, BDCs and Panchayats.
It was given out in the meeting that the District Capex Budget for the current fiscal is to the tune of Rs.780 crore including Central share of Rs.56514.36 lakh and state share of Rs.6179.51 lakh.
It was further informed that the number of various Development works to be taken up for execution is 14,297 which include 359 works under DDC grant, 183 works under BDC grant and 2480 works under PRIs grant. Of these works, it was informed that 6678 works are targeted to be completed during the current financial year.
The meeting also held threadbare discussion on sector wise plan ceiling.
Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the officers and executing agencies to work with added dedication and ensure completion of targets. He said the efficiency of the officers and field functionaries could be judged by how they can achieve targets even though there is an odd situation due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC Chairman called upon the elected members of PRIs to provide full support to the Administration so that targets could be achieved within the stipulated time frame. He appreciated the efforts of District Administration for holding the meeting which will give good insight to the members of the District Development Council.
The Vice Chairman, DDC also spoke on the occasion . He said people have pinned hope on the Panchayat Raj Institution and it is our duty to come up on the expectations of the people.
